Depot updates tonight, Jan. 24!
You know how I said Depot would be much easier to extend with new features than was the Content Enhancement Library? I wasn’t kidding. Tonight I’ll be posting an updated version of Depot with a new Bookmarks feature.
Bookmarks work the same way as the bookmarks or favorites option in your web browser–you know, you find a website you like, and you add it to your bookmarks. In Depot, bookmarks work the same way: If you find something you particularly like, add it to your bookmarks. You can bookmark as many things as you like, from any group you’re in.
It gets better, though–you can opt to share your bookmarks with the Depot community. When you do this, other users can see what you’ve bookmarked. If you’re a professional developer, and you’re involved in several schools, you can bookmark examples (and even non-examples) you share on a regular basis. Turn on bookmark sharing, then direct people to your list (they can find it in the group roster). Easy!
In addition to bookmarks, I’ve made a few slight interface tweaks to streamline a few processes. I’ve also added a News section in the menu bar, with easy links to recent posts in this here blog.
Check back tonight, and be ready to add to those bookmarks!
