Thoughts on Color
Tip 2: Keep your text easy to read and limit the eye strain on your readers!
Pop quiz! Which of the two images below are nicer to look at?

Do you see how to colors almost seem to vibrate in Option A? It’s pretty hard to look at for a long time. Option B lets your eyes relax just a bit so you can really focus on the content. Care has to be taken to make sure people WANT to look at what you’re showing them. Also, there’s a reason that books are printed with black text on white paper. The higher contrast of black on white makes it easier to read, so think about your reader’s eyes, especially when you have large blocks of text. Contrast is key!
So, in our example, I’ll take out the painful yellow background. Isn’t that better?

This was great! It really made me think about my use of pictures with text. Changing the campus image made all the difference.
