Thoughts on Color
Tip 3: Limit your color palate to no more than 2-4 colors.
As a general rule of thumb, this one works well 90% of the time and for a Powerpoint slide, I’d stick closer to 2-3 colors. Posters and covers can go higher, but keep it reasonable. We have images here as well, so we don’t need too many colors for the text. Let’s try using the Martha Stewart cover for a loose reference and see if we can simplify things here.

OK, so I changed a lot on you here! First, I simplified the colors down to just 2 main colors, a light blue and a brighter red. The red serves to make the header and the list stand out while the blue box helps isolate certain information. Also, I balanced the composition by putting the box in the center so that there is equal amounts of white background on the top and bottom of it. I also replaced the jagged Jayhawk image with a higher resolution image which makes it look much more professional!

This was great! It really made me think about my use of pictures with text. Changing the campus image made all the difference.
