Thoughts on Color
Tip 4: Use a simple color palate to guide the reader’s eye where you want it to go.
I felt that the image in the last example had too much green in it and, since green didn’t show up anywhere else in the slide, it draws a LOT of attention away from the text and over to the left side of the page. I decided to replace it with a photo that more closely matched the color palate of the text to try and create a unified look that was calming, but interesting, clear, and easy to read.

(This is a preview of an upcoming post)
Bonus tip 4A: Don’t use too many different fonts and stay away from “design” fonts
I did some slight font adjustments that made this slide seem much more professional. I’m going to write more about fonts in a later post, so just take a look and see if you can see the difference yourself!

This was great! It really made me think about my use of pictures with text. Changing the campus image made all the difference.
