Kindle 2 is here!

B66D6152-0D6A-4BE4-AA50-04244A958348.jpgIt’s official and all over the gadget blogs today: Amazon has announced Kindle 2. You can pre-order one for $359, to ship on February 24.

The new device, pictured here, sports an overhauled body (much slimmer and sleeker than its predecessor), a better screen, a longer battery life, and more storage for more books (“over 1,500 books,” according to Amazon). It also includes a new feature called “Read-to-Me,” which, as you might guess, will read your books, newspapers, magazines, and blogs aloud to you. Might this be a useful tool for literacy?
