Stay up on current events with Google News Timeline

Fresh from Google Labs: Google News Timeline offers a neat, sideways-scrolling view of the past week’s news. As someone who’s recently returned to the world of semi-competitive trivia, it occurred to me that this might be a good way to cram for the current events questions–so maybe it could be useful for social studies teachers in preparing their own current events quizzes (or even help kids create their own quizzes!).

You can also add and remove filters to specify news sources or specify a time range. Keep in mind that this is a Google Labs product, meaning it should be considered a beta version. Some interface elements don’t quite work the way you might think they would.
