5 things to look for from Stratepedia in 2010

Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week? It’s around this time each year that we start planning what we’re going to work on for the next twelve months. Here are five things we’ll be introducing in 2010:

1. Single Sign On

At last, you’ll be able to use one account to sign into Depot, Dossier, Coaching Calendar, and (hopefully) the Learning Labs. I’m hoping we’ll actually start rolling this out over winter break–stay tuned to our blog for updates.

2. Depot 2

We’ve been wanting to add some features to Depot for awhile now. It’s hard to imagine, but it’s been two years since Depot replaced the Content Enhancement Library and improved group functionality and file management. Depot is going to get a complete rewrite in 2010, and while we’re at it we’re going to add support for non-Content Enhancement materials, better ratings mechanisms using rubrics as opposed to arbitrary star ratings, and–wait for it–a reworked filters system that lets you save your searches for future use. Our goal is to have this ready to roll by the 2010 SIM Conference in Lawrence.

3. More Mobile

From Blackberrys to iPhones, more and more people have portable, Internet-enabled computers in their pockets. We’ll be preparing mobile-friendly interfaces for Coaching Calendar, Depot, and Dossier, to give you access to these tools wherever you happen to be. We’re also leading the charge on exploring ways in which mobile devices can be used in SIM and CLC.

4. A Unified Interface

In the past, when we’ve rolled out a change to one of the Stratepedia apps, it’s taken us some time to make the rounds to the other apps. That’s why, although Depot, Dossier, and Coaching Calendar look similar, there are differences in fonts, colors, icons, etc. (The Learning Labs site is an anomaly as it’s the only component of Stratepedia that wasn’t developed in-house.) As we incorporate the above features, we’re going to strive to make sure they’re applied across the board, so they not only look like they came from the same shop, but they’re easier for you to use in your day-to-day work with SIM and CLC.

5. Additional Support

Last, but definitely not least, we’re hoping that 2010 will be the year we finally have our own pre-conference workshop at the big SIM conference in Lawrence. We’re also working on some online options for those of you who won’t be making the trip to Kansas, via webinars and on-demand tutorials.

If you’d like to see us host our own, half-day pre-conference session, please help us plead our case by leaving a comment in the area provided below. In addition, let us know what topics you’d like us to cover in such an event and/or in any online tutorials we develop for Stratepedia.

Friday Five will return on December 4. Have a great holiday!

You know you don’t really have to lobby for a preconference. You just need to talk to the organizers–they hand these things out like candy. :-)
