WebEx announces a new, lower-priced option for online conferencing

If you like WebEx for your desktop conferencing needs, but aren’t thrilled with the price tag, you may be interested in the new WebEx 8 level of service. It provides the standards–unlimited meetings, sharing of your desktop and files, meeting recording, and outlook integration–but is capped at eight participants instead of 25. The plan will cost $19 a month.

Still too pricey? As Greg Kumparak suggests in TechCrunch, free or cheap upstarts Google+ and Join.me are increasingly viable options–and stalwarts like GoToMeeting, Adobe Connect, and even Skype are providing lower-priced options as desktop conferencing hits the mainstream.
