SIM 2009 Presentation recap: Links and additional information for getting started with social media

Thanks to everyone who attended our sessions on social media at the 2009 SIMĀ® conference in Lawrence yesterday! Below is a list of the various sites we recommended over the course of those four hours. If I’ve forgotten anything, just leave a comment at the end of this page and I’ll add what’s missing (be a “critic!”). Feel free also to provide any other suggestions about getting started with social technology as well. Thanks again!

I dug around a bit to find these links this morning–I hope they help explain or reinforce some of the concepts we discussed about Twitter.

Preview slides for our Thursday session “Using Social Media in Professional Development”

Hot off the virtual presses: Here are the slides we’re going to use as a very rough guide to our first Thursday session, “Using Social Media in Professional Development.” These slides mostly cover the first part of our session–the latter half will be more hands-on, live demonstrations of social media services, questions and answers, etc.

We’ll have a PDF version available shortly as well. Hope to see you all at the conference!

Where to find Stratepedia at SIM 2009

Happy SIM® Conference Week! We’re wrapping up our slides today and will have them posted here and elsewhere by the end of the day. If you’re heading to Lawrence to attend the conference, here are some of the places you’ll find us:

Tuesday

  • Amber will be leading the two GIST sessions (beginners in the morning; advanced in the afternoon)

Wednesday

  • Aaron will be involved primarily in the Strengthen Your SIM Core strand, though as duty calls he may be active in other strands as well.
  • Amber and Mark will be at the KU-CRL Help Desk to answer questions about Stratepedia and the online SIM Directory throughout the day.
  • To wrap things up on Wednesday, Amber and Mark will be at the Poster Session at the SIM Directory booth.

Thursday

  • Amber and Aaron will be at the KU-CRL Help Desk at various times in the morning.
  • Aaron and Amber will be leading two sessions on social media’s role in life and professional development in the afternoon.

Friday

  • We’ll be around the KU-CRL Help Desk most of the morning for any last-minute questions you might have.
